- "... Total 274 species for both Panama (225) and Darien (81) provinces. Susan and I got 141 lifers.
For comparison our 2004 Brazil trip got 269 species (226 lifers) and 2006 Ecuador trip got 192 species (172 lifers).....Susan got the Great Tinamou, Dusky-faced Tanager, Black-and-yellow Tanager, and Purple-crowned Fairy on me and I got the Rufous-necked Wood-Rail and
Rufous Mourner on her. Turns out that I had seen the Barred Antshrike in the Pantanal 2004 and in Mexico in 1995. All that fuss I made!
Thanks to Gonzalo, Kilo, local guides Julian, Mario and Luis we saw lots of great birds. As noted before we got more species than both Brazil and Ecuador

- "Gonzalo is a down to earth friendly guy and with him what you see is what you get which is really great; he delivers what he promises. I birded with Gonzalo in Chagres, (Pipeline Road - Old Gamboa Road and sorroundings) Achiote and around the Panama City area. His local knowledge is top-notch and he really knows where there are birds to be seen and also which areas to avoid !. When The Pipeline Road failed to deliver, Gonzalo took me to some other spots around Gamboa which would have been impossible for me to find had I been on my own. Also, he is very knowledgeable about the tourist/travel situation in Panama which is very handy... Moreover, Gonzalo hired a very knowledgeable local guide (named Julian) from the Achiote Community, and that really contributed to the success of the birding in Achiote."
